Recipes about life... and sometimes food
I always loved cooking... hence the title.
It's a very creative occupation, one you use all your senses.
It sometimes needs discipline, following a recipe, and others just instinct and improvisation.
It's done fast, or it needs time... to labour over it.
You need patience and conviction, but sometimes you can get away with sloppiness.
You never know the end result (only in your imagination), but it'll be all of your own doing.
You share it or eat it alone.
The more energy you put into it, the better the taste.
One thing is certain: Whatever you cook with love, will taste good... or at least you'll have enjoyed the process!
"What's cooking?" is all about life...
stories, tips, tools, lessons learned... but I'll post a few recipes here and there too...
(P.S. The funny thing is this idea came to me in 2008. I created the Blogspot page back then. That's where I found most of this intro copy! But didn't pursue the project... until now! Interesting how things work out, right?)
... I saw a lot, learned a lot, experienced a lot. I spent time with artists, singers, musicians, technicians and fans, and I witnessed every aspect of social or antisocial behaviour. Experienced the highs and the lows... It was the school of life. Seeing first-hand how one can connect with, touch and affect another human life. And what I learned is that there are rockstars, and there are RockStars!
You're a true RockStar when...
Do you have pets? Have you ever stopped to think how much they mirror you and your behaviour? Or how often they trigger you? What can you learn from them?
I have 3 cats. I'm fascinated by how different they are. Like humans they have a character of their own...
Everyone deserves the freedom to be who they choose to be and hold their beliefs as long as they do no harm to others.
This photo I took at Athens Pride (June 10, 2023) inspired a lot of food for thought...
with an amazing miso-tahini sauce! Super healthy and tasty.
Enjoy this recipe that I created on the spot with the ingredients I had at home. I love how creative we can be with food. All we have to do is use our imagination.
This is just my version...
In today's fast-paced world, finding balance can seem elusive. Between work, family, social obligations, and personal hobbies, it can be challenging to find time for everything.
Living a life out of balance can lead to burnout, stress, and a decreased quality of life. That's why finding balance in your busy life is so important.
It's one thing breaking up, and another when your ex has a new girlfriend. Even worse when your ex is also one of your best friends whom you've known and loved almost all your life!
What do you do?
Do you ever feel Zoom meetings are like staring yourself in the mirror? Where every fear, every thought of self-judgement creeps up.
Well, it's how it used to be for me. I sat there, in Gallery mode, looking at everyone, making up stories. For me, for them. Looking at me instead of the speaker! Sometimes, missing the essence of the meeting. I couldn't help but compare myself to others... and feel small!...
Beating myself down and coming back up again.
(Or, learning by being aware of my shitty thoughts and feelings... and playfully and wisely course-correcting.)
It happens to me sometimes. How about you?
My teenage rebellion was to one day declare to my mom that I loved animals so much, that I was becoming a vegetarian! I was thirteen and it was the early 80s in Greece. Plus, I hated vegetables. So, you can imagine my mom’s reaction! It was exactly the opposite! She agreed and fully backed my decision. Even though everyone around her told her she was crazy...
It saddens me to notice how far apart we've grown from each other and everything surrounding us. We're experiencing the consequences, but it seems that we're still not able to comprehend how we're contributing to every devastating event that happens on our planet....
...is a way of life. It's not just about what we eat. It's about honouring and protecting every animal's life. This is such a big and controversial topic that it could fill hours of discussion and heated debates. But let me give you some facts on the subject. And maybe along the way, I'll get you to think about giving the vegan diet a try. Consider these questions: Would you imprison...
Today could've been one of these days. You know, the one that everything goes wrong. And it's Monday too! (Tell me why I don't like Mondays... remember the song?)
It started last night. We were coming back from a friend's party, the first after a long time, having had a wonderful time. Suddenly my car's warning lights started flashing...
